Middle Room

In Middle Room we welcome toddlers between 24-36 months.

Toddlerhood is the time of great cognitive, linguistic, physical, social and emotional development. Therefore, in addition to the prime areas of development: Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional development, and Physical development, toddlers are introduced to the specific areas of learning: Mathematics, Literacy, Expressive Arts and Design and Understanding the World.
Adult led activities in the middle room focus on developing children’s skills in these areas in more detail so that before toddlers move on to the preschool room, they are able to: recite numbers in sequence, recognise colours and shapes, represent numbers and marks in writing and also begin to understand the concepts of possession and feelings of ownership with a focus on establishing boundaries. They develop values like responsibility (by being helpers of the day), kindness and compassion.

Our toddlers are provided with lots of resources and wonderful areas that enable endless opportunities for the children to explore, create and follow their particular needs. Our flexible environment adapts to the children’s immediate interests and needs, and provides a safe, engaging, and diverse range of activities that offer opportunities to carefully manage risks and challenges. Based on the ongoing observations made on every child, we provide personal planning so that the individual and specific developmental stage of every child is addressed and stimulated.

Our toddlers enjoy the activities such as: song time (in English and Spanish), story time, music and movement, play dough, sand and water, puzzles, sporty toddlers, cooking and yoga. In addition, toddlers enjoy art and craft activities where they have the opportunity to investigate and use a variety of media and techniques such as painting, drawing or modelling with paper, junk or clay. This allows children to be in complete control of their actions and experiences, aiding their confidence, decision-making skills and cooperation, and motivating their engagement in learning.
As children emerge from toddlerhood, they gradually begin to engage in imaginary play. Therefore, we have created a wonderful Space theme sensory room, which is an immersive environment designed to develop children’s senses and imagination. The Space room is a sensory setting with laser and space projectors, space tent and posters, multi activity sensory rocket, touch-sensitive light cube, aroma diffuser; a CD player and relaxation music; mirrors, fibre optics and squidgy balls.
The sensory room fosters imaginary play where children can use and develop their imagination and experience things that may never happen, like going to the moon or visit planets of the Solar System. It also provides children with a variety of ways to express themselves and is suitable for all early years age groups.
